OUR STORY
When we met, Karolina never hunted before and Scott gave it up because it didn’t bring him as much fun as it once did. After a few general “should have, could have, would have” conversations about going hunting we finally decided to pull the trigger and go together for a hunting trip.
We went to Scott’s old hunting grounds around Whitecourt, Alberta just before the season opened. This was so Karolina could see the terrain and would have an idea of what to expect. It was Karolina’s first time scouting, and boy was she amazed at how many deer we found. They were everywhere, just standing there and looking at us! How hard can hunting be, she asked. They just stand there in the open field, waiting. What she didn’t realize was that as soon as the clock strikes midnight on the opening day of hunting season all the deer will be gone! Seems they have smart watches.
Needless to say, when you can’t shoot them, they’re everywhere, when you can shoot them, they’re nowhere to be found. Typical…
WHY WE WANT TO HELP PEOPLE
We find hunting to be both calming and exhilarating at the same time. Just as we are exposing our kids to the joys we experience while hunting, we want to bring nature, hunting, and respect for the environment and animals closer to as many people as possible in hopes that they pick hunting as part of their life and tradition.
While being members of some hunting groups and talking to seasoned hunters we found out that nobody really likes to talk about the time they missed a 40 yard shot, or filled their tag with anything other than an absolutely incredible trophy animal. We want to share “the good, the bad, the ugly” real stories in hopes of encouraging new hunters and showing them that not every shot is a perfect shot and that hunting is not only about getting the animal. It’s about so much more than that.
OUR GOAL
Our goal is to make hunting more accessible and relatable. To share with you the many aspects of hunting beyond just the heart pounding adrenaline rush when you pull the trigger. To show the reality that most of us face, with time in the bush and no harvest to show for it, but a calmer mind, some nice pics and good stories.
We believe every hunter has great stories as well as some not so great or embarrassing stories (like sleeping in the truck because you accidentally discharged your Bear Spray in the tent and couldn’t breathe in there anymore, not that it happened to Scott or anything). We aim to make all those stories, tellable stories.
If you ever need a hand or have any questions, feel free to leave them below and we will be more than happy to help you out.
All the best,
Karolina and Scott
